Performance Art is live. It is experimental. 

This fascinating and popular series features the work of the world’s preeminent performance artists. These artists will expand the traditional definition of art using sound, video, and the human body. Co-sponsored by the University of Northern Iowa’s Department of Art.

National Wrestling Hall of Fame
Dan Gable Museum

Jorge Rojas  (Salt Lake City, UT) will step into the ring at Waterloo’s National Wrestling Hall of Fame (303 Jefferson Street). In the guise of Mil Mascaras (A Thousand Masks), Rojas relives an important part of his childhood in Mexico.

Waterloo Center for the Arts
Sarah Hill (Austin, TX) creates works that examine the physical and psychological dimensions, definitions and transitions of gender and queerness.
Jimena Bermejo-Black (Boston, MA) will explore how the human body and technology can be used to create a physical and emotional relationship with the audience via a live remote performance.

Shannon Cochran (Toronto, Canada) uses humor to strategically urge audiences to consider their own role in the creation of a performance.
