Jessica Borusky : Dispatches From the Prairie @mobius
"Dispatches From the Prairie" is a durational performance that connects turn of the 20th century American West promoter and booster language with contemporary forms of advertising the relevance of the plains; Kansas City. The third work within a year long project entitled "Queer-A-Fest Destiny," this fugue-like performance utilizes installation and satire to invoke American Exceptionalism, personal narrative, accumulation, and failure; providing a space for examining cultural relationships concerning “progress”. "Dispatches From the Prairie" pushes the intersections of past/present through the figure literally vying for validation from the East Coast.
