Jessica Borusky : Dispatches From the Prairie @mobius

"Dispatches From the Prairie" is a durational performance that connects turn of the 20th century American West promoter and booster language with contemporary forms of advertising the relevance of the plains; Kansas City. The third work within a year long project entitled "Queer-A-Fest Destiny," this fugue-like performance utilizes installation and satire to invoke American Exceptionalism, personal narrative, accumulation, and failure; providing a space for examining cultural relationships concerning “progress”. "Dispatches From the Prairie" pushes the intersections of past/present through the figure literally vying for validation from the East Coast.

Jessica Borusky received their MFA from SMFA/Tufts University, and currently, a lecturer and director of Alt. Lecture KC at the University of Missouri Kansas City within the Fine Art Department. Additionally, Borusky curates for the Downtown Council of Kansas CIty, is an Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition Curatorial and Writing Fellow, and generating a space for Kansas City-based performance practitioners.
