From Black Mountain College to Josef Beuys social sculpture to Trump University to the College of Pataphysics Bloch will explore the meta-imaginary international higher education system and its offshoots.
From Robert Delford Brown's First National Church of the Exquisite Panic to George Brecht and Robert Filliou's La Cédille Qui Sourit (the Smiling Cedilla) located in Villefranche-sur-Mer, near Nice, a convivial collaborative space operating on the principles of a gift economy that presented the works and ideas of an international network of friends and collaborators, Bloch will lecture on predecessors to what he recommends as a cure for society's ills through a pedogogical, transformative , 'panmodern' communication system that operates using principles that originated in Antonin Artaud's Theater of Cruelty and Ray Johnson's New York Correspondence School, of which he was a member from 1978 to 1995.
Additional Exhibition/residency hours: Wednesday through Saturday noon to 5pm and 7 to 10pm.
