A site specific collaborative performance, for the Church of the Advent on June 21 (which happens to be the summer solstice, from 8 pm to 8:59 pm (the end of civil twilight).
The performance has 3 stages. The inward, the center and the outward journey. These stages circle and meander along a path constructed with movement, sound and the changing of the light within the space.
The soundscape created by trombonist Tom Plsek, who would be located in the sanctuary, begins with almost pitch less high notes, passes through the realm of pitched tones and ultimately leads to lower also almost pitch less tones. This creates the sonic inward journey ending with stillness. Simultaneously Joanne Rice creates a circle that spirals within the framework of an imaginary eleven circle labyrinth moving up and over the pews. This creates the physical journey ending with stillness.
Produced and curated by Matt Samolis.
