Rough Night 2 : A Double-Header of Electro-Acoustic Improvisation

The next Rough Night will be March 4, 8pm! It will be a double bill of improvised music. Leading off will be the Mobius Quartet, of Jed Speare (laptop electronics), with Derek Hoffend, on other kinds of electronics, James Coleman on theremin, and Tom Plsek, trombone. These four musicians are members of the Mobius Artists Group, a pioneering space for experimental work of all kinds.

The jazz quartet Cereal will close. Cereal is a Boston-based improvising collective made up of Andrew Colwell (bass), Keiichi Hashimoto (trumpet), Jesse Kaminsky (on alto saxophone and host of WMBR's amazing program The Intercontinental) and Kelly Roberge (tenor saxophone). The band’s most recent incarnation as a horn trio draws on the influence of jazz and folk music as well as drone and meditational practices to explore the liminal states of sound.
