as a blow-out art party showcasing the work of the Mobius Artists
Group and other talented local experimental artists, and with music
by local bands, ArtRages has become a feature on the benefit scene,
the performance art circuit, and a great place to catch current
and up and coming local stars. The party has also been a crucial
fund-raiser for Boston’s oldest enduring alternative art organization,

BANDS AND OTHER SOUND:
I Remember When There Were Birds featuring
Ben Vigoda on Magneto-Electric Sustain Guitar, AudioPint, and Voice.
The AudioPint is a computer music platform we are developing at
the Experimental Musical Instruments Workshop at MIT. It is a road-hardened
linux platform using miniature hardware and running the PD (Pure
Data) open source audio processing environment.
Ben will be performing with a line-up of other musicians from MIT’s
Experimental Musical Instruments Workshop.
Burnkit2600. Burnkit
2600 create jazzy drum n' bass grooves and experimental nowave using
a variety of hi and lo-tech devices. Their current setup employs
homemade circuit-bent devices, laptop, sampler, bass guitar, keyboards
and turntables- creating a unique musical experience for the beat-starved
listener with an adventurous ear.
The Press, a 7-piece
authentic neo-soul, R&B, and hip-hop group. They've created
a reputation as quick witted, high-energy instrumentalists with
their exciting, free-flowing improvisatory performances, where anything
can, will, and does happen.
Umimaq, a four person
improvisational ensemble with musical backgrounds that span both
the centuries and the continents. Using such varied instruments
as oud, didgeridoo, voice, bass, classical guitar, computer and
various types of electric and acoustic percussion they create pieces
entirely on the spur of the moment. Each performance is unplanned
and unique.
Certainly Sir
Musicians Michael Andor Brodeur and Klaus
Hubben have been creating music in their Cambridge, MA studio for
years. They've been honing their fresh and accessible sound, and
touring the country with the likes of The Postal Service, American
Analog Set, Cex, The Promise Ring, and Denali. The act's live outfit
contains anywhere from two to seven players at any given time. This
is a testament to Certainly Sir's varied and original sound, which
employs a mind-boggling array of instruments and techniques and
redefines what it means to be a band.
Also featuring , 85 Alive, Human Shield,
and others to be announced!
