Mobius Grievance Policy

A grievance would be filed in the following cases:

1. A MAG member files a grievance due to the perceived violation of another MAG member or members not fulfilling items outlined in the covenant or R&R document.

2. A MAG member feels that the covenant document or R&R should be amended and files a grievance after expressing this sentiment and feels that their concerns are not being heard.

3. A MAG member files a grievance for a different reason.

Grievance Process Steps

1. Informal communication with at least one member of the grievance committee.

Before filing a formal grievance, MAG members are encouraged to talk through the perceived grievance with a grievance committee member. Sometimes an informal chat is all that’s needed to resolve the issue. The Grievance Committee member will actively listen to the MAG member’s concerns. The MAG member may choose to send a written communication about their grievance, if this is preferred, rather than an in-person meeting.

2. Formal grievance in writing

If the grievance is not resolved via informal communication, the MAG member will send a confidential email with details about the grievance in writing to members of the Grievance Committee who are not involved in the grievance. The MAG member will include as many details as possible, including names and dates. Formal grievances should be filed within two weeks of completion of step one.

3. Evaluate the grievance

The members of the Grievance Committee will evaluate the grievance. If the grievance is complex enough such that it impacts the greater organization and/or involves multiple members, the evaluation of the grievance will be more complex and may require additional input from other members and/or the board of directors.

4. Conduct a formal investigation

Members of the Grievance Committee will interview the MAG member who filed the grievance as well as anyone else who was involved. Supporting evidence will be reviewed in order to find a resolution (e.g., email chains, witness testimony, receipts).

5. Resolution

Members of the Grievance Committee will provide a formal conclusion in writing to the MAG who filed the grievance based on their findings and in a timely fashion. The MAG member will be provided with a copy of these findings and any actions that will result. If the resolution isn’t satisfactory to the MAG who filed the grievance, a mediator may be called in to help resolve the situation.

Who is the Mobius Grievance Committee?

The Mobius Grievance committee is composed of one of the board members, one of the co-directors and a rotating member of the MAG membership. If one of these should be involved in the grievance, the next person in the rotation and the other co-director would take their place.
