Karamele/Candy A Solo Exhibition by Kledia Spiro
Opening Reception: September 5, 2025 at 7pm.
Artist Kledia Spiro invites audiences into a multi-sensory archive with her upcoming solo exhibition, Karamele/Candy opening September 5 at the Bellslip Gallery in Greenpoint, NY. The exhibition is curated by Anissa Petri, Assistant Curator at the RISD Museum.
Combining scent, virtual reality, responsive sound garments, and an original Albanian house/EDM soundscape, Spiro’s work explores how perception is mapped through body, culture, memory, and language. Each element. from press-and-sniff scent boxes to interactive VR environments functions as a portal, asking: How do we remember what can’t be seen? How do we preserve culture through the senses?
Rooted in Spiro’s ongoing research into Albanian identity and sensorial translation, the exhibition culminates in the release of a limited-edition vinyl album composed by the artist, a tactile extension of the show’s sonic landscape.
Karamele/Candy is less about fixed narratives and more about perceptual mapping: a living, layered archive that blurs the boundaries between body and environment, presence and memory.
