Mobius Open Call: Outside/Inside

Mobius Presents: Outside/Inside

Overview

The camera enables the performed gesture to exist outside its initial moment, placing it inside the frame of the image. Instead of treating this relationship as being one in opposition to the other, it is alchemical - frames of moments, moments transforming frames.

These concepts are the impetus for Mobius Live: Outside/Inside, a one-night screening of performance-video works curated by Serena Gabriels and EL Putnam to be screened at the Civic Pavilion in Boston, MA on September 17, 2025.

Submission Details

We are currently seeking submissions for perfomance-video works to be included in this event. Artists are invited to respond to Outside/Inside as an open prompt, to interpret as they wish. This may include:

  • relationship of interior self to exterior surroundings, world

  • to be beside yourself

  • looking inward, showing outward

  • relationship of camera to performance; framing of the image

  • contrasting perspectives

  • The space between outside and inside as threshold or liminal

  • Introspective/interspection

Please note that this event is taking place on a screen that can be viewed publicly from the street and are therefore unable to include works with nudity or explicit violence.

Submissions must be submitted through the Open Call form, with videos uploaded to YouTube, Vimeo, or similar service.

  • All videos must include some form of performed action.

  • Video duration: 5 to 15 minutes

  • Submission deadline: 25 August 2025

  • Screening date: 17 September 2025

  • Location: Civic Pavilion next to Boston City Hall

Selected artists will be notified in early September.

If you have any questions pertaining to the open call or submission requirements, please email EL Putnam (el@mobius.org) or Serena Gabriels (serena@mobius.org).
