Mobius Artists Group welcomes you to an evening of performance art and participatory projects involving movement, play, language, light, and music, all responding to this place and time in American history. Returning to Boston City Hall for a second year in a row, Mobius continues to feel the weight of the precarious political climate that many in our nation are experiencing. Sometimes it feels like all we can do is Recalibrate continuously– adjust ourselves each day to the endlessly emerging risks within our country and toward our civil liberties. As a collective, Mobius recognizes that work does not happen individually. Let us come together, hold hands, and remember that navigating the tightrope of a shifting democracy has always required conversation, collaboration, and perhaps most importantly, curiosity. How else can we envision the future of our society?

Sonnets for Loverbois is back for its fourth installment hosted by the wonderful Jasper Sanchez and Julissa Emile.

Mobius is excited to announce another round of one of our favorite annual programs, "1 Minute Movement Solos," an evening of finished, solo performances that are strictly 1 minute in length.

The 2026 edition is curated by Jimena Bermejo with Heather Kapplow and presented by Mobius.

This year, 1 Minute Solos features a whopping 18 artists!! Performance details are below (but event order is still TBD.)

Mirhet Kebede will perform poems from her just-released book live in Amharic with English translation by anna moschovakis and improvised accompaniment by Boston music legend Thalia Zedek. Thalia Zedek will also play a short solo set beforehand.

Mobius Presents performances by Lu Adami and Samantha Becker; Kieth Becker-Lazor; NiFe Lucey-Brzoza; Wenxuan Xue and Yolanda Yang.

Mobius presents three duos working in improvised sound, improvised movement, and objects. Instruments including saxophones, percussion, mandolin, trumpet, laptop computer, glass, and who knows what else.

We are currently seeking submissions for perfomance-video works to be included in this event. Artists are invited to respond to Outside/Inside as an open prompt, to interpret as they wish.

Mobius Artists Group is proud to present States of Emergence, an evening of performance art and spatial interventions presented throughout Boston’s City Hall on Saturday March 29th, 2025, from 5:30PM-8:30PM.

SLAY celebrates the Ides of March–a time of omens, superstition, curses, hexes, prophecy, plotting and crowd-sourced assassination. Taking inspiration from a date famous for being the beginning of the end of the Roman Empire, Mobius calls in queer community to join six performance artists in pulling out all of the psychomagical stops to cast anti-authoritarian spells with us. Bring your queer power to conspire towards the fall of all of the Roman Empires of the present. Show us how you slay!

Join Tufts University Art Galleries and Mobius Artists Group for performances, sound works, and installations responding to the Tufts University Archival Research Center (TARC)’s Mobius Inc. Records and the larger conception of the “archive.” Resisting the urge to adhere to the de facto logics, organization, and authority of the archive, contributions from Marilyn Arsem, Margaret Bellafiore, Jimena Bermejo, Serena Gabriels, Sara June, Heather Kapplow, Marcel Marcel, Forbes Graham, Jeff Huckleberry, Sandy Huckleberry, EL Putnam, Kledia Spiro, and Joanna Tam embody adjacencies, challenges, resistances to, and thinking with archives—institutional, governmental, collective, familial, and personal.

Mobius Live! Series: Bodies that Matter is a night of live art curated and created by queer artists.

Performance, on March 16 is curated by Marilyn Arsem and features performances by Jimena Bermejo making tortillas; Marissa Dungan as Alukah the Kosher Vampire; Jeff Huckleberry with multiple electric sanders; and ruminations by Joanne Rice and Scott Fessler with didgeridoo prerecorded by Tom Plsek.

Mobius Live! Series: Movement is curated by Mobius artist group member Sara June and features performances by movement/sound artists Lord & June, Ensemble InEdit, Boston Butoh Collective.

Mobius Live! Series: Sound is curated by Mobius artist group member Forbes Graham, featuring performances by experimental composer/musicians Nomi Epstein, Jennie Gottschalk, Rachel Devorah and Forbes Graham.

Lydia Lunch and Joseph Keckler, two of New York’s most notorious performers combine dynamic spoken word and musical histrionics to create an intimate evening of provocative musical poetry, regaling tales of madness, longing and lust.
